We got up early hoping for a shower at the camp ground 3 miles up the road. We try hitching pretty much all the way there but not much traffic that early. We get there, no showers! They do have bathrooms, always take advantage of that! There is also running water so we decided to have breakfast at one of the picnic tables.
Al heats water and makes coffee. We share that and eat some oatmeal. At least 4 days since we’ve had a shower now.

We walk back out of the campground and hook back up to the PCT. They had an overlook there and the views were amazing.

We continue walking and are awestruck by the views. It reminds me of the Grand Canyon.

The trail is not so bad, we weave around the middle then get closer to Garnet Peak.
I am really enjoying the trail today, we are going quicker now, less breaks on hills to catch my breath. The hills are also aren’t like yesterday’s. There would be a long stretch up and then this big step, which we had to heave all our weight plus our packs weight, (30 lbs) onto one leg and boost ourselves up, then maybe 30 steps and repeat. Not my favorite.
Our trail is almost in the middle of the peaks today, not the ridge yet.

Our FarOut app lets us know that the water at the cistern ahead is not drinkable but a trail angel has left some water jugs there for hikers because there is no water on the trail for the next several miles. We usually carry at least 2 litters a piece for hiking. Then before camp you need to get more to cook with and drink while at camp.
We got to this real scary part where the trail was not wide and the wind was bad! Kwaaymii Point.

After that I think the worst is over. I have really surprised myself with just forging ahead, focusing on the path in front and just keep on going. Al is surprised too because he knows I don’t like heights or ledges.
We weave around and continue up and down.

Finally we make it to our campsite for the night. We try to find a protected spot from the wind with bushes on 2 sides of us. But it turns out there were several hikers that night at this campsite that had trouble during the night.
On a positive note we hiked 13 miles today.
Tomorrow is another adventure,
until then Be Well.
